The artwork

Front: Hồ Chí Minh at right, the familiar late portrait with high forehead and thin beard, engraved in deep maroon over green and rose guilloche. Above left, the state title "CỘNG HÒA XÃ HỘI CHỦ NGHĨA VIỆT NAM" over the national emblem — star within rice ears — then the value spelt out as "MƯỜI NGHÌN ĐỒNG" and a heavy green 10000. Red serials run vertically and horizontally; a clear polymer window sits at right.

Back: "NGÂN HÀNG NHÀ NƯỚC VIỆT NAM" across the top, and below it a maroon engraving of offshore production platforms — the Bạch Hổ (White Tiger) field in the South China Sea, Vietnam's oil mainstay — walkways, flare stack and cranes rising from pale green water, with a further rig faint on the horizon. "MƯỜI NGHÌN ĐỒNG" and 10.000 sit over gold banding above a patterned base panel.

In circulation

Part of the polymer family that replaced Vietnam's cotton-paper notes through the 2000s, this 10,000 đồng appeared in 2006 and took over from the paper note of the same value, which was progressively withdrawn. It remains legal tender and in everyday use, unchanged in design.
