The artwork

Front: Guaicaipuro, the Teque cacique who led the resistance against the Spanish in the valleys around Caracas, named in small type at the right edge. He wears a woven headband and feathers, with spears and indigenous pottery and basketry patterns worked into the background. To the left, "República Bolivariana de Venezuela", the value as "DIEZ BOLÍVARES", the promise payable to bearer at the Bank's offices, and the two Bank signatures.

Back: A harpy eagle, labelled "Águila Arpía", perched in profile with its double crest raised, drawn against the Ucaimá falls and the Venado and Kurún tepuis of Canaima National Park — the caption spells all of it out along the lower edge. "Banco Central de Venezuela" runs across the top left, the national coat of arms sits in the left panel, and a large red-and-blue 10 with "DIEZ BOLÍVARES" closes the right.

In circulation

Part of the bolívar fuerte family introduced at the start of 2008, this piece carrying the 3 September 2009 date. The design stayed in use until the 2018 redenomination, when the bolívar soberano and its own new note series took over and these were withdrawn.
