Front: Virginia Gutiérrez de Pineda in red-brown, her name and dates printed small beside the shoulder, with a second, full-length figure of her standing in coat and skirt at the centre — an unusual double treatment. Left of her, a gold-brown oval bearing a tree frog and the word RANA ARBORÍCOLA, a shifting "10", and a Victoria amazonica bloom. "BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA / COLOMBIA" and the two signatures sit lower left, with raised tactile bars in the corner.
Back: The Amazon seen from above: a great looping meander of pale river cutting through ochre and green forest, captioned AMAZONAS Y LA GENTE DE RÍO. An anaconda coils along the lower left, a man poles a dugout canoe across the water, and a Victoria regia lily opens at the right. Above, a passage of Gutiérrez de Pineda's writing in small type, beside the bank's seal with the head of Liberty. A green windowed thread runs vertically through the design., of Colombian notes.replacing the older Policarpa Salavarrieta note.

It remains current, reprinted with updated dates and signatures — this one dated 27 July 2021 — and circulates alongside the 2,000, 5,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 of the same series.
