The artwork

Front: Two young women in profile, heads turned right, in the fourth series' engraved manner: a Bouyei woman in a patterned folded headcloth, and behind her a Korean (Chaoxian) woman with plain drawn-back hair and a collared jacket. The right two-thirds is given over to a deep green medallion of scrolls, leaves and lozenge borders framing 贰角 in bold white characters, with 中国人民银行 along the top and a large 2 in the corner. Serial in red at lower left.

Back: Pure ornament in green with a warm tan centre panel: the national emblem of the People's Republic — Tiananmen beneath five stars, ringed by ears of grain and a cogwheel — set in a lattice of geometric and floral tilework. "ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG" runs across the top, the date 1980 sits in a cartouche below the emblem, numeral 2 to either side with "ERJIAO" at the right, and a bottom strip carries the denomination in Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur and Zhuang.
